Steve and Margie Carter Welcome
You to Wooden Rose Auctions!
About Us
Wooden Rose Auctions is a full service auction house handling household, antiques and estates at our full time auction house
located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. In addition to the domestic type of auctions, we also are involved with store and business closures, bankruptcy and liquidation auctions. We hold our auctions not only
in Halifax, but also in other areas in Nova Scotia and the Maritimes. Our product varies
from fine antiques and collectibles to modern furniture, new merchandise
and/or liquidation of bankruptcy goods. We also have an accredited Personal Property Appraiser on staff.
We are accredited by the CPPA.
We are licensed to sell unrestricted firearms, one of only two auctioneers
to hold this license in Nova Scotia.
Our Experience
Wooden Rose Auctions is an experienced auction house, having
been in business since September 1999. The owner and auctioneer have collectively
over thirty years working experience in the auction world.
Our Rules
We pride ourselves in running our auctions with integrity, in that we present
the goods for what they are, describing any deficiencies we detect. Our
consigners can be assured strict confidentiality. We respect their need
to reserve some items, however, we do not allow our consigners to inflate
the price by bidding on or buying back their own goods. We do not allow
the staff to purchase goods from the sale before the event, but we do allow them to bid competitively. Sold is sold. We never reopen a bid for any reason.
Wooden Rose Auctions is an associate member of the Maine Auctioneering Association,
and we adhere to their code of ethics.
First Time At An Auction?
All our auctions are conducted live. Bidders are registered and assigned
a numbered bid card. By raising your card the auctioneer will acknowledge
your bid. Bidding will continue in this manner until there is no advance
on the price at which time he will say sold and announce the winning bidder
number. At Wooden Rose Auctions once we say sold, the bidding will never
be reopened. The auctioneer is the sole recourse for any disputes. Your
active bidding and the auctioneer's acceptance of your bid forms a legal
and binding verbal contract. Our staff are always available to answer your
questions.
Can't Be There in Person?
Should you not be able to stay for the auction, you may leave an advance
bid and we will bid competitively for you. We require you to register with us and provide a credit card number when asking for this service. Another alternative
would be a phone bid, where you actively participate in the bidding by telephone. This type of bidding requires registration and credit card as well.
Payment
Payment of goods must be made by the close of sale. Wooden Rose Auctions
accept the following methods of payment at our discretion: Visa, Mastercard, Amex,
Interac, and cash.
Wooden Roses?
These are actual wooden roses. Didn't know there were such things? Wooden
roses are a Mi'kmaq art form. The elders make them from shaved maple and
dye them with natural dyes. These roses came from Mill Brook and were made
by Christine Pictou, who is a respected elder on the reserve. They are given
in return for a kindness shown to another human being. These roses were
given to us by some of our regular customers.
